Austin Healey - Body and Chassis Restorations
Steve Tanner
This site is dedicated to the restoration and preservation of Austin Healey Sports Cars

I have been restoring Austin Healeys since 1988. I moved here from England in 1977 and started restoring Triumph TR3 - Tr6s, Jaguars, MGs and Healeys; but finally decided to specialize in just the chassis and bodies of Healeys. I also do the award winning bodywork and paint on my sons cars @ Kurt Tanner Restorations who holds most of the auction record sales prices throughout the USA for Austin Healeys.

Rust

I specialize in repairing cars with rusty chassis’ and bodywork. I find that just about every Healey that needs restoration requires a certain amount of rust repair. The rust must be repaired properly with good quality steel parts and panels. The chassis and bodywork has to be welded by a person with experience otherwise it will result in twisted chassis and bodywork which leads to poor panel fit and bad door gaps. I have rescued a few cars in that condition that have been started by other people.

Collision

I have a great deal of experience repairing collision damaged chassis and body work. Healeys are fairly simple cars, but require great care to realign the chassis and body panels to obtain the correct panel fit and door gaps.

V8 Conversions

I restore back to factory condition Healeys that have been fitted with V8 engines, including engine mounts, foot-boxes, bulkheads, fender bowls and any other sheet metal that has been cut away to have room made for V8 engines.

Your car might not be as bad as this example (or it might be worse!), but I can fix it with new precision made steel panels
Send me your car fully stripped and I will sandblast the chassis, plastic blast the panels (No distortion).
I will repair the chassis as required and prime and paint to the finished color. Panel beat the body panels to obtain a correct fit to the chassis and paint to final finish.

This is a brief overview of my work, for more details call and discuss the work you need performing.
